Drake Name Generator

A drake is a dragon cut down to working size: smaller, usually wingless or short-winged, often bred or tamed as a mount, guard beast or hunting companion. That changes how it should be named. Where a true dragon gets five syllables and an epithet (Ancalagon the Black, Vermithor the Bronze Fury), a drake wants something a rider can shout across a courtyard: Scorch, Kazrak, Emberjaw, Rime. Games like World of Warcraft, Dragon Age and Guild Wars treat drakes as elemental sub-species, so the best names signal what the beast breathes or where it hunts, with fire drakes named for heat and stone, frost drakes for wind and ice, and sand, bog and sea drakes for their terrain.
