Generate lizard names in the style of the Ancient Empire in Divinity: Original Sin 2: hissing single names like Saheth and Zhalira, nobles such as Zethari of the House of Law, and titles like The Jade Princess and Consul Vezhan.

About Divinity lizard names

Lizards in Divinity: Original Sin 2 come from the Ancient Empire, and their names sound like it: a soft hiss carried by s, sh, z and h, and very often a rank attached. The game's own lizards set the pattern. Sadha and Bahara are short and end on an open vowel, Zaleskar is longer and closes on a consonant, Stingtail is a blunt description, and the Red Prince is known by a color and a title alone.

This list holds 1,000 names in that manner. About half are single given names such as Saheth, Zhalira and Issarek, because one name is all most players type for a custom character. The rest carry a place in the Empire: nobles of the House of War, Law, Dreams or Shadows, color titles like The Jade Princess, Dreamers and scholars, consuls and envoys, exiles, sorcerers, priests of Zorl-Stissa and the undead.

Five entries are canon and are here as style anchors: the Red Prince, Sadha, Bahara, Zaleskar and Stingtail. Every other name is original, and no canon character is given a House. The four Houses are the ones the game names; none were made up for this page. The names are kept readable, so the hiss is one you can say aloud.

How to choose Divinity lizard names

  • Say the name aloud before you commit. A good lizard name has one or two hissing sounds, as in Saheth or Vezhari, not five in a row.
  • Choose a single name for the character itself and keep the House or office for introductions, a tabletop sheet or your own notes.
  • Let the House suggest the role: going by the words alone, War fits a soldier or duelist, Law a judge or scribe, Dreams a mystic and Shadows a spy.
  • A color title works best with no given name at all. The Jade Princess or The Ivory Regent says everything a rival needs to know.
  • Blunt names like Ashtail or Sandclaw suit a lizard far from court: a wanderer, a hired blade or a Dreamer who left rank behind.

Frequently asked questions

How are lizard names built in Divinity: Original Sin 2?

The canon examples point to three patterns: a short hissing given name (Sadha, Bahara, Zaleskar), a blunt descriptive name (Stingtail), and a color with a rank (the Red Prince). This list follows all three and adds Houses and offices, as in Zethari of the House of Law or Consul Vezhan.

Which names on this list are canon?

Five: the Red Prince, Sadha, Bahara, Zaleskar and Stingtail. Every other entry is an original name in the same style, and the goddess Zorl-Stissa appears only inside a few priestly titles. The Houses of War, Law, Dreams and Shadows are named in the game, but none of the nobles listed under them is a canon character.

What name suits an undead lizard?

Try the grave titles, such as Zehmak the Unburied, Hollow Vezrak, Kolzhar the Fleshless or simply Rattlebone. A plain single name works as well, on the idea that the dead keep the name they had in life.

Is this generator official?

No. It is a fan-made list for players and game masters and is not affiliated with Larian Studios. The game and its characters belong to their owners; the original names here are yours to use for your own characters and campaigns.
