Adele Dazeem Name Generator

On March 2, 2014, John Travolta walked onto the Oscars stage to introduce Idina Menzel, the Broadway star about to sing "Let It Go," and instead announced "the wickedly talented, one and only Adele Dazeem." The flub was so confident and so far from the real name that it became an instant meme, spawning a wave of "Travoltify your name" widgets. Menzel later returned the favor by introducing him as "Glom Gazingo."

A good Adele Dazeem name follows the logic of the original mistake. It keeps roughly the same number of syllables and the same rhythm as the real name, preserves at least a hint of the first letters, then swaps in vowels and consonants that sound like a half-remembered version. Idina became Adele (a completely different but real-sounding first name), and Menzel became Dazeem (the same shape, wrong sounds). Names that simply add a rhyming word are less funny than names that could plausibly be a stranger reading a teleprompter without their glasses.

Use these mangled names for party games, group chat nicknames, award-show drinking games, or as placeholder celebrity characters in comedy sketches where you want the audience to know exactly who you mean without naming anyone.
