Thousand Sons Name Generator

The Thousand Sons are the most consistently themed of the Traitor Legions when it comes to names. Their homeworld Prospero and its capital Tizca were written as a lost Egyptian golden age, and the Legion's canon characters follow suit: Ahzek Ahriman, Amon, Hathor Maat, Phosis T'kar, Ankhu Anen, Sobek, Menkaura, Khalophis and Iskandar Khayon. Real pharaonic roots (Ahmose, Djedhor, Sanakht, Ptah, Amun) sit alongside invented Prosperine forms with hard consonants and a slight otherworldly twist.

A good Thousand Sons name usually has one of three shapes. The first is a plain Egyptian-style personal name, often theophoric, meaning it contains a god's name: Amenmose, Sobekhotep, Ptahmose. The second is a personal name plus a Legion title such as Exalted Sorcerer, Aspiring Sorcerer, Infernal Master or Magister, and the cult the sorcerer belongs to (Corvidae, Pyrae, Pavoni, Raptora, Athanaeans). The third is a name plus an earned epithet in the Black Library style: Ahriman the Exile, the Crimson King, Menes Dust-Walker. Rubric Marines, being mindless, are best named after the Aspiring Sorcerer who leads them.

Tzeentchian flavour comes through less in the words than in the numerology and titles: nines and multiples of nine, references to the Rubric, the Warp, the Silver Towers and the Changer of Ways. Avoid generic Chaos words such as Blood or Skull, which belong to other Legions.
