Red Panda Name Generator

Red panda names almost always start with the coat. The rust-red back, cream face, and ringed tail inspire warm color names (Rusty, Copper, Auburn, Sienna, Ember) and the spice rack (Cinnamon, Paprika, Nutmeg, Saffron, Chai), and the raccoon-like tail gives us Ringo, Bandit, and Stripes. The animal's nicknames are a second source. In Chinese it is huǒ hú, the firefox, which is where the browser got its logo, and older English called it the lesser panda, bearcat, or fire cat. Its genus name, Ailurus fulgens, means "shining cat." Japan adores red pandas (Futa, the standing red panda, was a national celebrity), so autumn-leaf names like Momiji and Kaede fit the coloring.

Pop culture adds Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda, Mei Lee from Turning Red, Retsuko from Aggretsuko, and Pabu from The Legend of Korra. For a plush or a fursona, a cozy two-syllable name (Biscuit, Mochi, Pippin, Rufio) usually wins.
