Oread Name Generator

Oreads (Greek Oreiades, from oros, "mountain") are the nymphs of peaks, crags, caves and alpine forests. Unlike the naiads of springs or the dryads bound to individual trees, oreads roam the high country: Echo lived on Mount Kithairon, Pitys was turned into a mountain pine while fleeing Pan, and the Idaean nymphs Adrasteia and Ida nursed the infant Zeus in a Cretan cave. Most oreads were named after the mountain they haunted, so Cyllene, Idaea, Othreis and Sipylene are literally "she of Kyllene", "she of Ida", and so on.

That gives you two authentic ways to build a name. The first is to feminize a real Greek mountain: Parnassos becomes Parnassia, Taygetos gives Taygete, Helikon gives Helikonis, Erymanthos gives Erymantheia. The second is to take a Greek word for a feature of the mountain world, such as petra (rock), kremnos (crag), koryphe (summit), chion (snow), nephele (cloud), kedros (cedar) or spelaion (cave), and finish it with a feminine ending like -ia, -eia, -is, -one or -essa. Both methods produce names that sit comfortably beside Homer's Nymphs and D&D's fey.

The list here mixes attested oreads, Pleiads born on Mount Kyllene, mountain-titled goddesses such as Dindymene, freshly built Greek coinages, and a handful of name-plus-epithet pairs (Pitys Kremnaia, "Pitys of the Crag") for characters who need a fuller title.
