Medicine Cat Name Generator

Medicine cats in the Warriors series are named exactly like other Clan cats: a prefix given at birth by the mother, then a suffix chosen by the mentor at the naming ceremony. What sets healer names apart is the tone. Erin Hunter tends to give medicine cats softer, more observant suffixes such as -leaf, -pool, -whisker, -flight, -shine, and -feather (Spottedleaf, Leafpool, Sagewhisker, Kestrelflight, Willowshine, Jayfeather), rather than the combat-flavored -claw, -fang, or -strike used for warriors. Yellowfang and Hawkheart are the notable exceptions, both cats who trained as warriors first.

Prefixes come from the forest: herbs (Yarrow, Tansy, Comfrey, Marigold), weather and water (Mist, Frost, Puddle, Brook), small birds (Wren, Robin, Kestrel), and light (Moon, Dawn, Ember). A cat named Watermintpaw or Coltsfoot signals a healer's calling before the reader is told. Apprentices always end in -paw, and Tribe of Rushing Water healers use descriptive phrase names such as Snow Falling on Stones, with the Healer titled Stoneteller.
