Forerunner monitors in Halo carry a two-part designation: a number, then a name built from an adjective and a noun. 343 Guilty Spark, caretaker of Installation 04, set the template, and every monitor since has followed it: 2401 Penitent Tangent on Delta Halo, 049 Abject Testament on the Ark, 859 Static Carillon, 031 Exuberant Witness on Genesis, 000 Tragic Solitude and 117649 Despondent Pyre on Zeta Halo. Several installation monitors have numbers that are powers of seven (49, 343, 2401, 117649), a nod to the seven rings of the Array, while others like 031 and 859 break the pattern.

The names read like mood plus object. The adjective is usually an emotional or moral state, often a mournful one (penitent, abject, tragic, despondent), and the noun is a concrete or abstract thing with nothing to do with war: a spark, a tangent, a carillon, a prism. That mismatch between melancholy feeling and mundane noun is what makes them sound Forerunner rather than human, like something a polite, slightly unhinged librarian would recite.

This list supplies the adjective-noun half; add your own number in front. Use leading zeros for numbers under 100, pick an adjective that hints at how your monitor has weathered a hundred thousand years alone, and give it a noun that feels out of place on a battlefield.
