Generate funny album names for joke bands, parody projects, sketch props and game characters: fake compilations like Greatest Hit, Singular, live records like Live at the Laundromat, needless reissues like Remastered for No Reason and concept albums like A Rock Opera About My Landlord. Music albums only, not photo albums.

About funny album names

Albums come with their own vocabulary, and that is where the jokes on this list live. Sooner or later every band releases a greatest hits collection, a live record, a deluxe reissue and a concept album, so a title only has to borrow the form and puncture it: Greatest Hit, Singular. Live at the Laundromat. Remastered for No Reason. A Rock Opera About My Landlord.

The list is organized around those forms. There are fake compilations (Rarities Nobody Missed), live albums from unglamorous venues (In Concert at the Bus Depot), difficult second albums and career turns (We Bought a Synthesizer), needless reissues (Deluxe Edition With One Extra Cough), over-serious concept records (Requiem for a Houseplant), genre send-ups that tease album cliches in country, metal, emo, jazz, lo-fi, prog and punk (Three Chords, Two of Them Wrong), honest debuts (We Practiced Twice), holiday and covers albums (Songs We Almost Know), soundtracks to chores (Original Score for Mowing the Lawn) and jokes about the format itself (Side B Is Side A Again).

These are titles for music albums: joke bands, school and office parody projects, sketch props and the discography of a game character. Photo album titles are not covered here. The humor is clean, and a short title may well match a record that exists somewhere.

How to choose funny album names

  • Pick the form that fits the band's story. A group on its first release suits We Practiced Twice or Budget: One Pizza, and a group that has been around too long suits The Farewell Tour, Again or Reissue of the Reissue.
  • Build a whole fake discography. A debut, a difficult second album, a live record and a greatest hits set, in that order, tell a funnier story than any single title.
  • Longer, more specific titles are funnier and less likely to match a real record. Live at the Mattress Store Opening beats a two-word pun.
  • For a prop or a cover mock-up, add the small print: a sticker, a track count, a banner that says digitally remastered. A title like Advisory: Contains Flute does half of that work already.
  • Search any title before you release real music under it. Titles are short and reuse is common, so look on the streaming services first.

Frequently asked questions

What makes an album title funny?

Usually the gap between a grand format and a small subject. Albums are announced as events, so Symphony for a Broken Dishwasher or Collector's Edition for Zero Collectors works by keeping the pompous frame and shrinking what is inside it. Honesty works too, as in Half of These Are the Same Song.

Are these names for music albums or photo albums?

Music albums only. Every title is written to read like a record: a compilation, a live album, a reissue, a concept album or a soundtrack. For shared photo albums and scrapbooks, the site's photo album name generator is the better tool.

Can I use one of these titles for a real release?

You can, but search for it first. Album titles are short, many have been used before, and nothing on this list has been compared with the catalogs of real releases. A longer and more specific title such as Tour Recordings From the Tow Truck is less likely to collide with someone else's record.

Are the titles family-friendly?

Yes. The jokes are about the music business, rehearsal rooms and everyday chores, as in Our Parents Paid for This and Spin Cycle Sonatas. The genre send-ups tease album cliches and never a group of people.
