Fraternity Line Name Generator

A fraternity line name is the collective identity a group of new members carries through their process and announces at the probate or new-member presentation. It is most common in NPHC (Divine Nine) and multicultural fraternities, where the name does real work: it is chanted at the show, printed on jackets and shirts, and remembered by every brother who crossed before or after. The strongest names are easy to shout, fit on one line of a t-shirt, and say something about the men on the line.

Most line names fall into a few patterns. Numbered alliteration is the classic form: The 7 Pillars of Power, The 9 Sons of Thunder, with the count matching the men on the line. Small lines get their own conventions, such as Lone Wolf for one man and Dynamic Duo for two. Many lines work in their fraternity's symbols through wordplay: K-spellings for Kappas, QUE puns for Omegas, PHI puns, ice themes for Alphas, Blu spellings for Sigmas, and centaur imagery for Iotas. Warrior, royalty, fire, storm and legacy themes round out the rest.

Before you commit, check the chapter's line history so you do not repeat a recent name, and clear it with your dean or advisor, since some chapters have rules about what a line may call itself.
