Women outlaws of the American West were few, which is why their names became legends. A convincing invented outlaw keeps that ordinary core and adds one memorable hook, whether that is a nickname in quotes (Hattie "Hellcat" Vance), an alliterative epithet (Six-Gun Sadie Pratt), a place (Laramie Lou Brannigan) or a Spanish nom de guerre for a bandida from the borderlands (Pilar "La Serpiente" Vega).

The list mixes historical figures with original names in each of these styles, plus tomboy shortenings like Roberta "Bobbie" Trent that were common among women who rode and dressed as men.
