Female Elf Name Generator

Female elf names in modern fantasy descend almost entirely from Tolkien's two invented languages. Sindarin gives names like Arwen, Lúthien and Nimrodel: soft consonants (l, n, r, th, dh), long vowels, and feminine endings in -wen (maiden), -iel (daughter) and -eth. Quenya, the older high-elven tongue, is more liquid still, with names such as Eärwen, Nerdanel and Ancalimë built from ë, ó and doubled vowels. Dungeons & Dragons, Warcraft and Pathfinder took that template and loosened it, adding names like Keyleth, Naivara and Sylvanas that keep the melody but are easier to say at the table.

The sound rule is simple: elven women's names flow, they do not bark. Three or four syllables with stress near the front, no clusters like -rk or -st, and at least one l or n somewhere in the middle. Wood elves lean earthier and shorter (Faelwen, Carys, Enna), high elves longer and more ornate (Alassariel, Thavroniel), and drow women use harsher, hissing forms (Zesstra, Ilvara) with apostrophes in the house name.

If you want a full name, pair the given name with a house or family name that describes a place, a plant or a quality of light: Silverfrond, Moonwhisper, Dawnmantle. In D&D settings, canonical elven surnames like Galanodel, Liadon and Siannodel work straight out of the Player's Handbook.
