Generate eredar names with the harsh, sibilant sound of the Burning Legion's man'ari: male and female names like Xorvath and Ilizaara, titled Legion lords and inquisitors, and epithets in the style of Archimonde the Defiler. Built for World of Warcraft man'ari draenei customization, warlock roleplay and Legion-themed fan fiction.

About eredar names

The eredar and the draenei were one people on Argus, so their names share the same bones: open vowels, doubled letters and endings in -ath, -ar, -esh and -aan. What separates a man'ari name from a draenei one is what the Legion did to it. Canon eredar names lean on hard k, x and z sounds, grinding double consonants and glottal breaks (Archimonde, Kil'jaeden, Talgath, Socrethar, Jaraxxus, Kazzak, Kruul, Malchezaar, Arazzius), while the few named female eredar, Alythess and Sacrolash, keep a softer ending on a harsh core. Velen, Rakeesh and Talgath show the pre-corruption form.

This generator follows those patterns. Male names cluster around -oth, -ath, -axx, -zar and -us; female names end in -a, -ith, -essa and -ira; and the apostrophe sits before a stressed final syllable the way it does in Kil'jaeden rather than being scattered for decoration. You will also find Legion ranks such as Doomlord, Highlord, Grand Warlock, Inquisitor and Archon, and both kinds of lore epithet: a title like the Defiler, and a compound such as Soulrender.

For a player character, take a bare name and let the epithet be something your guild gives you; for a villain, lead with the title so the name lands like a proclamation.

Tips for choosing a name

  • Pick a draenei-sounding root and harden it: swap soft consonants for k, x or z and double a letter, so a name like Maraad becomes Marraxx or Morrakh. That is the difference between a fallen eredar and a Light-bound one.
  • Use at most one apostrophe, placed before the final stressed syllable (Kil'jaeden, Xel'vithra). Two or more reads as generic fantasy rather than Legion.
  • Give female eredar a harsh core with a softer ending (-essa, -ira, -ith), matching Alythess and Sacrolash, rather than simply adding -a to a male name.
  • Reserve titles for NPCs and villains: Doomlord, Highlord and Grand Warlock are Legion ranks, while Vindicator, Anchorite and Exarch belong to the draenei and would mark your character as uncorrupted.
  • If you are naming a man'ari draenei player character, a bare name like Vorazzius or Dacithra fits the realm name rules; save epithets such as the Flayer for RP flags and guild lore.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between eredar and draenei names?

Both come from the same Argus language, but draenei names (Velen, Nobundo, Maraad, Yrel) favour long open vowels and gentle endings, while eredar and man'ari names (Archimonde, Kil'jaeden, Jaraxxus, Kazzak, Socrethar) pile up k, x and z sounds and doubled consonants. Velen, Talgath and Rakeesh are canonically eredar names from before the split, so either style can be lore-accurate.

Which canon eredar names are included?

Archimonde, Kil'jaeden, Velen, Talgath, Socrethar, Jaraxxus, Kazzak, Kruul, Malchezaar, Arazzius, Alythess, Sacrolash, Rakeesh and Hakkar the Houndmaster, plus Argus NPCs like Lady Dacidion, Inquisitor Meto and Admiral Svirax, appear alongside several hundred original names written in the same style.

Can I use these names for a man'ari draenei character in WoW?

Yes. The bare single-word names are built to pass realm naming rules and to read as man'ari on sight. Titles and epithets such as Doomlord or the Flayer cannot be part of a character name, but they work well in RP profiles, guild ranks and custom NPC designs.

Are female eredar names different from male ones?

In lore only a handful are named, Alythess and Sacrolash among them, but both follow a pattern of a harsh root with a soft vowel or -ess ending. The female section here (Ilizaara, Sethrixa, Valethress, Nyxzara) extends that pattern, and titled versions use Lady, Magistrix, Sorceress and Princess.
