Eevee is the one Pokemon whose nickname has to survive a transformation. Name it Biscuit and it is adorable as a normal type, a little odd as a Vaporeon. That is why most trainers pick one of two routes: a cute, evolution-proof name built on brown and cream foods (Mocha, Hazel, Toffee, Chestnut, Cinnamon), or a name that commits to the evolution they are planning. Aqua, Tide and Marina point to Vaporeon; Volt, Static and Raiden to Jolteon; Ember, Cinder and Blaze to Flareon; Dawn, Psyche and Sol to Espeon; Luna, Nyx and Eclipse to Umbreon; Fern, Clover and Sage to Leafeon; Frost, Glacia and Yuki to Glaceon; Ribbon, Sylvie and Fairy to Sylveon.

A handful of names nod to Eevee's whole gimmick: Spectrum, Octave, Helix and Wildcard work for an Eevee you want to keep unevolved or an Eevee you have not made up your mind about.
