CEO Name Generator

A convincing CEO name depends on what kind of company the character runs. Legacy firms and banks are led by people with inherited weight: a surname that sounds like a law firm, a middle initial or a Roman numeral, and a first name that was fashionable sixty years ago (Harrison Whitlock, J. Bradford Kensington, Walker Huntington IV). Venture-backed startups skew younger and more casual, so two short syllables and a first name from the 1980s and 1990s feel right: Hayes Lancaster, Mila Zhang, Reid Coleman. Founder-led companies outside the English-speaking world need names actually used in the boardrooms of Mumbai, Shenzhen, Tokyo, Seoul, Lagos, São Paulo, Frankfurt and Riyadh, not anglicized placeholders.

The list mixes all of these: Anglo-American old money, modern American and British executives, South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian, African, Latin American, European, Middle Eastern and North African names, plus Dr. prefixes for biotech firms and a few grand names for corporate villains.

When you pick one, check it against the company. A fintech founded in 2019 is unlikely to be run by Cornelius Hathaway III, and a 140-year-old shipping line is unlikely to have a CEO called Brooklyn Foster. Match the era, region and formality of the name to the business.
