Caravan Name Generator

The word caravan covers two things, and people search for both. In Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand a caravan is the towed trailer or static holiday van that Americans would call a travel trailer or RV, and owners name them the way sailors name boats: warm homely names (The Nest, Little Haven, Our Bolthole), wandering mottos (Off We Tow, Gone Touring), puns on tow and van (Tow-tally Awesome, Van Morrison, Vanessa), and affectionate old-lady names for vintage vans such as Mabel, Doris and Peggy. Static caravans on a holiday park tend to get cottage-style names like Seaview, Driftwood Lodge and The Snug because they sit on a plot with a sign by the step.

The other caravan is the travelling trade caravan of camels, mules or wagons, and these names follow a different logic: the caravan master's name (Barzani's Caravan, the House of Ilvaro), the route or destination (the Salt Road Company, the Amber Crossing), or the cargo and a boast (Thousand Lanterns, the Red Silk Train). Fantasy games and novels use this register for merchant NPCs and Silk Road style trade.
