Ace Attorney Name Generator

Ace Attorney names are jokes you are meant to hear before you see them. Nearly every character in the series is a pun that hints at their role or their secret: Phoenix Wright is always 'right', Frank Sahwit is the witness who 'saw it', Winston Payne is a pain to sit through, and Wendy Oldbag is exactly what she sounds like. The Japanese originals do the same thing with kanji, so the English localizers rebuilt every name from scratch, which is why the cast reads like a phone book written by a stand-up comedian.

There are a few recurring patterns worth stealing. The most common is a first-name-plus-surname phrase (Luke Atmey, Ini Miney, Ted Tonate) where the whole thing is read aloud as one sentence. Prosecutors get grander, faintly threatening names (Manfred von Karma, Simon Blackquill, Barok van Zieks). Spirit mediums and the Fey clan use short, soft names. Spirit of Justice added the Khura'in convention, where an ordinary English phrase is chopped up with apostrophes into something exotic: Rheel Neh'mu, Beh'leeb Inmee, Datz Are'bal.

A good original name should still work as a name in dialogue. 'Detective Rusty Klews' or 'Prosecutor Persia Kewshun' can be shouted across a courtroom without breaking the scene, while the pun lands the second time you read it. Match the pun to the character's job or twist rather than picking a random joke, and keep the spelling just plausible enough that a judge would not blink.
