Wrestling Finisher Name Generator

A finisher name is the last thing a commentator shouts before the three count, so it has to be short, punchy and instantly repeatable. Real finishers usually get their names in one of four ways: a play on the wrestler's own name (RKO, Styles Clash, Zig Zag), a play on the character's gimmick (Sweet Chin Music for the Heartbreak Kid, Sister Abigail for a cult leader, Rainmaker for a man who makes it rain money), a description of the damage (Tombstone Piledriver, Curb Stomp, Skull Crushing Finale), or a phrase that sounds like an ending (Go To Sleep, End of Days, Lights Out, Coup de Grace).

The strongest names also hint at the move type without spelling it out. Anything ending in "Driver" or "Bomb" reads as a head-drop or powerbomb; "Lock," "Clutch," "Vise" and "Stretch" signal submissions; "Splash," "Press" and "Arrow" belong to high-flyers; "Kick" and "Knee" belong to strikers. Puns work when they land in the character's world: a lawyer character wants Closing Argument, a hacker wants Blue Screen, an undertaker wants Six Feet Under.
