Leagues of Votann names sound like dwarf names that have spent ten thousand years in deep space. The Kin draw on the same Norse and Germanic roots as classic fantasy dwarfs (Ûthar, Grimnyr, Brôkhyr, Einhyr) but Games Workshop marks them with circumflexes and clipped, hard-edged spellings: Kâhl, Hearthkyn, Hernkyn, Ymyr, Kronus. A name usually stands alone (Ûthar the Destined) or is paired with a rank and, sometimes, an earned epithet. Surnames are rare; instead a Kin belongs to a Kindred, which belongs to a Hold, which belongs to one of the great Leagues such as the Greater Thurian League, the Kronus Hegemony, the Trans-Hyperian Alliance, the Ymyr Conglomerate or the Urani-Surtr Regulates.

The flavor comes from mining, engineering and commerce rather than gods and glory. Good original names lean on ore, seams, lodes, ingots, ledgers, hearths and forges, and the Ironkin (sentient constructs) get shorter, blunter designations that still follow Kin phonology.
