Egypt supplies goddesses with a lioness head, notably Sekhmet, Bastet, Tefnut, Pakhet and Menhit, and royal titles (Sultana, Rani, Maharani, Malkia, Tsarina) suit an animal that is, in every practical sense, the queen.

This list also draws on coat colours (Tawny, Amber, Saffron), sun and heat words (Aurora, Ember, Sirocco), the great lion reserves (Mara, Serengeti, Tsavo) and famous lionesses from Elsa of Born Free to Nala and Sarabi, so you can name a zoo cub, a story character, a mascot or a golden house cat.
