A fan name is the collective noun an artist, streamer or show gives to its audience: Swifties, the Beyhive, Little Monsters, Directioners, ARMY, Barbz. Almost all of them are built with one of a few tricks. The most common is a suffix stuck onto the artist's name (Swift + ies, Belieber, Selenator). Next comes the mascot or animal group that matches the artist's branding (Beyhive for Queen Bey, Wolfpack for a wolf logo). A third is a role that positions fans as part of the story: ARMY, Navy, Sailors, Crew, the Chat. The best fan names feel like an inside joke that outsiders can still decode in a second.
