Car show names do a specific job: they have to fit on a flyer taped to a gas station door, read aloud on local radio, and tell a gearhead in three seconds what kind of cars will show up. The vocabulary signals the crowd. Cruise-In, Show & Shine and Rod Run mean a relaxed classic and hot rod turnout; Concours means judged, polished and usually prewar or exotic; Meet, Takeover and Cars & Coffee mean imports, tuners and modern stuff; Super Show, Low & Slow and Hop mean lowriders; Nationals, Daze and Throwdown mean trucks. Marque shows borrow nicknames only owners use: Bowtie, Blue Oval, Mopar, Tri-Five, Squarebody, Aircooled. Charity and civic shows put the cause right in the name (Cruisin' for a Cause, Toys for Tots Cruise-In) because that is what gets the town paper to cover it.

Pick a name that still works when the event is five years old, and put the year, town and venue on the flyer rather than in the name.
