Real car model names fall into a handful of families, and the list here is built around them. The biggest family is the coined word: two or three syllables, easy to say in any language, with a soft ending (Vantera, Meridia, Lumira). Manufacturers lean on these for mainstream sedans and crossovers because they carry no baggage and trademark cleanly. The second family is the borrowed word with attitude: birds of prey and big cats, storms and winds, stars and constellations. These suit performance cars and trucks. The third is the place name, usually a Mediterranean resort, an Alpine pass or an American landscape, which signals touring comfort or off-road ability. Finally there are alphanumerics (T-220, RS-6 Evo, V12 Stradale), the language of German premium brands and trim-level hierarchies.

The sound matters more than the meaning. Names with hard consonants (Talon, Vexor, Corvus) read as fast; names with open vowels and liquids (Solano, Ravelle, Sereno) read as smooth. A model name also has to work next to the brand and across a range, so it helps to imagine the badge on the tailgate and the phrase 'the new ___ hybrid' before committing.
