K-Pop Stage Name Generator

K-Pop stage names come in a handful of well-established styles. The most common is simply the idol's Korean given name without the surname: Jimin, Yeji, Hyunjin, Wonyoung. Because so many idols share popular names, agencies often add a twist for the ones who need it. Some go by a nickname or a partial name (Bang Chan, Lee Know), some adopt an English name that echoes their Korean one (Jake, Jay, Danielle), and some take a stylized moniker that reads well on a lightstick or trading card, such as I.N, Key, D.O., S.Coups, or The8.

A second family of stage names is single evocative words: Winter, Solar, Moonbyul ("moon star"), Rain, Dawn, Crush, Joy. These are chosen to fit the group's concept and to be easy for international fans to spell and shout. Rappers and soloists lean toward short, punchy names like Zico, Suga, CL, and Bibi. Japanese and Chinese members usually keep their given names (Momo, Sakura, Ningning, Yuta), which adds another sound to a group's lineup.

When naming an original idol, decide first whether the character keeps their real name or takes a persona, then check that the name sounds different from everyone else in the group. Real agencies avoid two members with similar-sounding names, and so should you.
