E-girl names mix two things that should not go together and somehow do: something soft and childlike (bunny, angel, doll, mochi, peach, kitty, baby) smashed against something dark or broken (gutz, corpse, coffin, hex, rot, static, glitch). The look comes from pastel-goth, kawaii, anime and gamer culture colliding on TikTok, Discord and Twitch around 2019, and the names still follow that recipe. bunnygutz, angelbby, cherryb0mb and cutegore are all the same trick: one cute word, one cursed word, all lowercase.

The formatting is part of the aesthetic. Handles are lowercase, often with a single number swapped in for a letter (bl00dm00n, cryb4by), a file extension tacked on the end (dollhouse.exe, bbygrl.wav, sadbunny.zip), a dot or underscore as a separator, and 'bby', 'grl', 'gf' or 'uwu' as filler syllables. Symmetrical xX wrappers are a deliberate 2006 throwback, used sparingly. Persona and display names take the same vocabulary but in Title Case with a space: Luna Lux, Velvet Ruin, Mochi Rae, Pixie Static, which reads better on a stream overlay or a Discord nickname.
